Job Description

Are you an experienced and results-driven Project Manager ready to make an immediate impact? MTN Nigeria is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Project Manager to join our team in Calabar. This critical role is integral to the successful planning, execution, and closure of complex telecommunications projects within the Calabar region, potentially involving infrastructure deployment, service enhancements, or strategic initiatives at various local sites, including major institutions. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with MTN’s strategic objectives and project management methodologies.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Manage project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks and develop contingency plans.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, status updates, and post-project evaluations.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and successes to stakeholders at all levels, fostering strong relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and tools.
  • Ensure adherence to MTN's quality standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in project management, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), and tools.
  • Exceptional leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage budgets effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects or technology deployments.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of local market dynamics in Calabar and Cross River State.
