Key Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including surgical interventions, restorative treatments, and examinations.
- Support dental hygienists during appointments, including preparing the operatory, managing instruments, and assisting with patient education.
- Ensure strict adherence to cross-infection control protocols and maintain clinical areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and sterilisation.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments, materials, and equipment, ensuring everything is readily available for treatments.
- Process and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with safety guidelines (if qualified).
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with appointment scheduling and administrative tasks as needed.
- Offer post-operative instructions and advice to patients, ensuring their comfort and understanding.
- Manage stock levels for clinical supplies and order new materials when necessary.
- Assist with emergency care and maintain emergency equipment readiness.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, fostering excellent communication within the practice.
Required Skills
- GDC registration (General Dental Council)
- National Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent qualification
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Assistant/Nurse in a clinical setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach
- Proficiency in dental software systems (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally)
- Strong understanding of cross-infection control and health and safety regulations
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Reliable, punctual, and highly organised with keen attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional qualifications such as radiography, impression taking, or oral health education
- Experience with specialist dental procedures (e.g., orthodontics, implants)
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid certification
