Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Training Coordinator – Capacity Building to join our dedicated team in Boma, Kongo-Central Province. This pivotal role is central to strengthening the organizational and programmatic effectiveness of Caritas Boma, its staff, volunteers, and local partner organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of training and capacity building initiatives, from needs assessment and curriculum development to delivery and impact evaluation. You will identify critical skill gaps, design tailored training modules focusing on areas such as project cycle management, humanitarian principles, community engagement strategies, monitoring and evaluation methodologies, child protection, gender mainstreaming, and specific technical skills relevant to our sectorial programs (e.g., sustainable agriculture, public health, WASH). This role demands a proactive individual with exceptional pedagogical skills, capable of facilitating engaging and interactive workshops, developing comprehensive training materials, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing the capabilities of our team and partners, ensuring the sustainable implementation and impact of our programs across the region, ultimately improving the lives of thousands and strengthening the overall resilience of the communities we serve. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive training needs assessments for Caritas Boma staff, volunteers, and partner organizations to identify skill gaps and development priorities.
- Design and develop tailored training curricula, modules, and materials (e.g., manuals, presentations, handouts, e-learning content) based on identified needs and best practices.
- Deliver engaging and interactive training workshops and sessions on various topics relevant to humanitarian and development work, ensuring relevance and cultural appropriateness.
- Coordinate all logistical aspects of training events, including venue selection, participant registration, material preparation, travel arrangements, and post-training follow-up.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, assessing participant learning, skill application in their roles, and overall impact on organizational and programmatic performance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all training activities, participant attendance, evaluation results, and training resources.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to staff and partners to reinforce learned skills, promote continuous professional development, and encourage a learning-oriented environment.
- Identify and onboard external trainers or resource persons when specialized expertise is required, managing their engagement and performance.
- Contribute to the development of Caritas Boma's overall capacity building strategy and annual work plans, aligning with organizational goals and international standards.
- Stay updated on best practices and innovations in adult learning, capacity building, and relevant sectorial knowledge (e.g., humanitarian aid, community development, WASH, food security).
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, especially within a non-profit, humanitarian, or development context.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, participatory training methodologies, and instructional design.
- Excellent facilitation, presentation, and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to develop clear, concise, and engaging training materials and content.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of adapting training approaches to different contexts.
- Fluency in French (oral and written) is mandatory for effective communication within the region.
- Good working knowledge of English for communication with international partners and resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Human Resource Development, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field.
- Experience working with local communities and partner organizations in rural or remote settings in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
- Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Lingala, Kikongo) spoken in Kongo-Central Province is a significant advantage.
- Certification in training and assessment or adult education from a recognized institution.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation of capacity building interventions and reporting on outcomes.
- Understanding of humanitarian principles, international development standards, and safeguarding policies.
