Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated, empathetic, and clinically adept Registered Nurse to enrich our growing team at The Omega Hospital. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on their specific needs and medical conditions, ensuring comfort and dignity.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with medical doctors and other healthcare team members, adapting to changing patient conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions, dosages, and patient responses in accordance with protocols.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient condition, interpret data, and report significant findings to the medical team promptly and clearly.
- Perform various nursing procedures including wound care, catheterization, injections, and assisting with medical examinations and procedures, maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, medication management, disease prevention, and self-care techniques to promote recovery and well-being.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential patient records, adhering strictly to hospital policies, data protection regulations, and ethical guidelines.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies, assisting with life-saving interventions and demonstrating composure and efficiency under pressure.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with interdisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive environment that ensures holistic and continuous patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and national nursing standards and regulations set forth by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
Required Skills
- Valid Nursing License (RN) from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) is mandatory.
- Proven strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills for accurate diagnosis and care planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of empathetic interaction with patients and effective collaboration with colleagues.
- Proficiency in administering medications safely and accurately, and performing a wide range of nursing procedures.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a fast-paced, demanding, and team-oriented healthcare environment.
- High degree of empathy, compassion, and a genuine patient-centered care approach.
- Competence in basic computer literacy for electronic health records (EHR) documentation and other digital tools.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure and during emergency situations.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities in complex clinical scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is highly desirable.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Previous experience in specialized units such as Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, or Surgical Ward.
- Additional certifications in specialized nursing areas (e.g., Pediatric Advanced Life Support – PALS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program – NRP).
