As a Cafeteria Kitchen Aide, you will be instrumental in the daily preparation, serving, and clean-up processes within our cafeteria and kitchen areas. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of a variety of meals, snacks, and beverages to patients, staff, and visitors.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, food warmers, and other relevant tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen and cafeteria areas, including equipment, countertops, and dining spaces.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans, ensuring they are properly cleaned and stored.
- Replenish food items, condiments, and supplies in the cafeteria serving lines as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and infection control policies and procedures, including those specific to a healthcare setting.
- Receive and store food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and inventory management to minimize waste.
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling initiatives, promoting a sustainable work environment.
- Provide friendly, efficient, and compassionate customer service to all cafeteria patrons, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Food Services Supervisor to ensure smooth operation of the department.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation principles.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment, prioritizing tasks as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting positively with diverse groups.
- Ability to lift and carry food items and equipment (up to 20 lbs) regularly.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks, typical of a kitchen environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, cafeteria, or food service setting (hospitality, restaurant, or institutional preferred).
- Current Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire, with support from HSN).
- Knowledge of special dietary requirements or common allergens.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
