Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily comprehensive cleaning and sanitization of warehouse floors, walls, racking systems, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning solutions and specialised equipment.
- Operate industrial cleaning machinery such as walk-behind scrubbers, ride-on floor buffers, industrial vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers safely and efficiently.
- Empty and sanitise waste bins, dispose of trash, and manage recyclable materials according to company and stringent environmental regulations.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, breakrooms, offices, and other common areas within the warehouse facility to a high standard.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained to avoid operational interruptions.
- Report any structural maintenance issues, identified safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to management promptly to ensure immediate action.
- Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- Conduct periodic deep cleaning tasks, including high-level cleaning and specialised treatments, as scheduled or required.
- Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to the highest standard, consistently meeting Peterson's industrial hygiene requirements and audit benchmarks.
- Support the wider operational team by ensuring a clean, organised, and hazard-free workspace that promotes maximum safety and operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) in an industrial cleaning role, preferably within a large warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated familiarity and competence in operating industrial cleaning equipment and applying various cleaning techniques.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in a heavy industrial setting, with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and effective time management to prioritise tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining meticulous cleanliness standards.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, stretching, pushing, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong, dedicated work ethic.
- Basic communication skills to effectively interact with team members, understand instructions, and report issues clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant professional cleaning certifications (e.g., BICSc or similar industry-recognised qualifications).
- Formal training and certification in COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- Experience with waste management and recycling programmes in an industrial context.
- A valid driving licence and access to personal transport is beneficial due to location.
