Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across all primary school subjects (e.g., English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, ICT, Arts) in line with the school's curriculum.
  • Develop and implement diverse instructional strategies and resources to cater to various learning styles, abilities, and needs within the classroom.
  • Assess, monitor, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to active learning and student well-being.
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a strong sense of community and collaboration.
  • Participate actively in extracurricular activities, school events, and parent-teacher conferences to support holistic student development.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and review of the school's curriculum, educational policies, and departmental initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills, pedagogical knowledge, and stay abreast of educational best practices and innovations.
  • Implement effective and positive classroom management techniques to ensure a disciplined, respectful, and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students under your care, adhering to school policies and national guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (at least 2 years) as a Primary School Teacher in a reputable institution.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with the Nigerian Primary School Curriculum and/or the British National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology (e.g., interactive whiteboards, learning management systems, online resources) to enhance learning.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Exceptional classroom management, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Patience, adaptability, creativity, and a genuine passion for teaching young children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field.
  • Certification in specific teaching methodologies (e.g., Montessori, inquiry-based learning, Jolly Phonics).
  • Experience with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge Primary, International Primary Curriculum – IPC).
  • Knowledge of an additional language (e.g., French, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
