Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Auto Electrician with a specialised focus on vehicle wiring to join our dedicated service team in Aberdeen. In this critical role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex electrical systems across a diverse range of modern vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and efficient diagnostic testing on vehicle electrical systems using specialised equipment and software.
- Identify and rectify faults in wiring harnesses, sensors, control modules, and other electrical components.
- Interpret complex wiring diagrams and technical manuals to trace circuits and diagnose issues.
- Repair, replace, and install electrical components, ensuring proper functionality and integration.
- Conduct electrical inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles.
- Install aftermarket accessories and electrical modifications as required, ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest automotive electrical technologies, industry trends, and manufacturer service bulletins.
- Liaise with service advisors and customers to explain electrical issues and recommended repairs clearly and concisely.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician or Vehicle Technician with a strong electrical specialisation.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including CAN bus, LIN bus, and other networking technologies.
- Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools and oscilloscopes.
- Strong ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and precision in electrical repairs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Automotive Electrics/Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) electrical systems and safety protocols.
- Manufacturer-specific training or certifications in electrical diagnostics.
- Proficiency with specific dealer diagnostic software (e.g., VCDS, Tech2, IDS).
- Familiarity with MOT testing standards related to vehicle electrics.
