Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Fairview, Montego Bay. This pivotal role will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting our various business units across the ATL Group. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. You will play a crucial role in managing our financial transactions from inception to final reporting, including the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, assistance with internal and external audits, and continuous contribution to the overall financial health and strategic decision-making of the company. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, monitoring performance against established targets and reporting on variances.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and analyses.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and statutory requirements in Jamaica.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring efficient cash flow management and timely payments/collections.
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide insightful reporting to aid business decision-making.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets and manage depreciation schedules.
- Prepare detailed financial reports for management review, highlighting key performance indicators.
- Continuously seek opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency through technology and best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or audit role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle Financials) and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of internal control principles and risk management.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting designation.
- Experience working within a diversified business or conglomerate environment.
- Familiarity with Jamaican tax laws and regulations (e.g., GCT, income tax, payroll taxes).
- Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities.
- Knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices within automotive, retail, or hospitality sectors.
