Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing all surfaces within assigned public buildings.
- Ensure all restrooms are sanitized, restocked with supplies, and maintained to the highest hygiene standards throughout the day.
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated disposal areas, ensuring proper recycling protocols are followed.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, or reporting larger maintenance issues promptly.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and restroom consumables, requesting new stock as needed.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Proactively identify and address potential hazards or cleanliness concerns to prevent incidents and maintain a safe public space.
- Respond promptly and courteously to any cleaning or maintenance requests from building occupants or visitors.
- Maintain all cleaning equipment in good working order, reporting any faults or damage immediately.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Janitor, Cleaner, or similar role, preferably within a public or commercial building setting.
- Strong attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and prolonged standing.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Certification in First Aid (desirable but not essential).
- Experience operating various cleaning machinery (e.g., floor buffers, carpet cleaners).
