Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles to pick up and deliver packages to residential and business customers on assigned routes.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Utilize handheld scanning devices to accurately record package information, delivery status, and obtain customer signatures.
- Maintain a high level of customer service, professionally addressing inquiries and resolving delivery issues.
- Load and unload packages from vehicles, ensuring proper handling and organization to prevent damage.
- Manage time effectively to meet tight delivery schedules and complete all assigned tasks within the designated shift.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and team members regarding route status and potential delays.
- Handle cash or checks for C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) shipments and maintain accurate records.
- Represent FedEx Express with professionalism and a positive attitude at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class E or higher driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable driving experience (commercial driving preferred).
- Ability to lift and maneuver packages weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with handheld scanning technology.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a courier, delivery, or logistics role.
- Familiarity with the Port Orange and Volusia County geographical area.
- Experience operating a commercial vehicle (e.g., box truck, step van).
- Customer service experience in a face-to-face setting.
