Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Printing Press Operator with a strong background in offset printing to join our vibrant production team in Calabar. This is a critical hands-on role on our production floor, where you will be instrumental in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting our state-of-the-art offset printing presses. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain multi-color offset printing presses (e.g., Heidelberg, Komori) according to job specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Set up printing jobs, including mounting plates, mixing inks, loading paper, and adjusting press for optimal performance.
  • Monitor print quality throughout production runs, making necessary adjustments to color, registration, and ink density to meet high standards.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on presses, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues that may arise during the printing process.
  • Ensure accurate color matching and consistency across all print materials.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Accurately record production data, including job times, materials used, and waste.
  • Collaborate effectively with prepress, finishing, and other production team members.
  • Conduct quality checks on raw materials and finished products.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating offset printing presses.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of offset printing processes, mechanics, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in color matching and quality control techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications, blueprints, and production schedules.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a production environment.
  • Basic computer literacy for job tracking and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or diploma in printing technology or a related field.
  • Experience with specific press models (e.g., Heidelberg Speedmaster, Komori Lithrone).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of digital printing processes is a plus.
  • Experience with routine maintenance and calibration of printing equipment.
