Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and assist with luggage handling and storage.
  • Provide comprehensive and accurate information about hotel services, facilities, and local attractions in Edinburgh.
  • Offer expert recommendations and make reservations for restaurants, theatre, tours, transportation, and other guest requests.
  • Anticipate guest needs and pro-actively offer assistance to enhance their stay.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing deliveries, mail, and packages for guests and hotel operations.
  • Assist with car rental arrangements, taxi services, and provide clear directions.
  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge base of current events, exhibitions, and points of interest within Edinburgh and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure the lobby and concierge desk area are always tidy, welcoming, and presentable.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Uphold hotel security procedures and privacy standards at all times.
  • Provide assistance to guests staying in our serviced apartments, ensuring their needs are met with the same high standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service or hospitality role, preferably within a hotel environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Extensive knowledge of Edinburgh's attractions, dining scene, entertainment, and transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for guest service.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Proficiency in using hotel management systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and guest satisfaction.
  • Immaculate presentation and a professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Concierge or Guest Relations Officer in a 4- or 5-star hotel.
  • Fluency in additional languages is highly advantageous.
  • Membership or certification from a recognised concierge association (e.g., Les Clefs d'Or).
  • A relevant qualification in hospitality management or tourism.
