Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Officer with expertise in facility and repair to join our operations team in Bridge View, Portmore. This critical role is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning, safety, and longevity of our facility infrastructure, machinery, and equipment. The Maintenance Officer will play a pivotal part in implementing preventative maintenance programs, conducting prompt repairs, and maintaining meticulous records of all maintenance activities. You will be instrumental in identifying potential issues before they become major problems, thereby minimizing downtime and ensuring our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance schedules for all facility equipment, machinery, and infrastructure.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve potential issues proactively, ensuring operational continuity.
- Perform skilled repairs and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, diagnosing faults and executing effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, parts used, and equipment history.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and tools, placing orders as needed to ensure availability.
- Collaborate with external contractors and service providers when specialized repairs or maintenance are required.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other team members as necessary.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and facility upgrades.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in facility maintenance and repair in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Strong technical aptitude across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and circuit diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaboration.
- A valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in electrical, mechanical, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
- Certification in specific trades (e.g., HVAC, welding).
