Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Site Foreman with a strong focus on Labour Management and Safety to join our dynamic team in Redcliffe, Bristol. This pivotal role involves the direct supervision and coordination of on-site labour, ensuring all activities are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. As a Site Foreman, you will be the driving force on the ground, responsible for optimising workforce productivity, managing daily operations, and rigorously upholding Wates Group’s stringent health and safety protocols across the construction site. You will play a crucial role in the day-to-day delivery of our projects, working closely with the Site Manager and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget. Your expertise in managing diverse trade teams, resolving on-site challenges, and fostering a collaborative work environment will be essential. This role demands a proactive individual who can anticipate issues, implement effective solutions, and lead by example in promoting a culture of safety-first. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily site operations, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Effectively manage and deploy on-site labour, including direct employees and subcontractors, to maximise productivity and efficiency.
  • Implement, monitor, and enforce all company and regulatory health and safety procedures, conducting regular site inductions, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct daily briefings and task allocation, ensuring clear communication of objectives and safety requirements to all site personnel.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure quality of workmanship and adherence to design specifications and relevant building codes.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues and conflicts promptly, escalating complex problems to the Site Manager as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate daily site diaries, progress reports, and records of labour, plant, and materials.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery of materials and equipment, ensuring efficient site logistics.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork and high performance.
  • Ensure all site activities are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of method statements and risk assessments.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Foreman or similar supervisory role in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrable strong understanding and application of construction health and safety regulations (e.g., CDM Regulations, HSWA).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with all levels of staff, contractors, and clients.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Valid CSCS Card (Supervisor or higher).
  • First Aid at Work certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Site Supervision or Construction Management.
  • Experience with various construction methods and materials.
  • IT proficiency, including basic use of project management software.
  • Full UK driving license.
