Job Description
Vodacom Congo (RDC) SA is seeking a dedicated and experienced Facility Manager specializing in Building Maintenance to join our team in Kananga, Kasaï-Central Province. This critical on-site role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, upkeep, and operational efficiency of our facilities and properties within the Kananga region. The Facility Manager will ensure all company buildings, infrastructure, and technical sites are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring a safe, functional, and productive environment for our employees and equipment. This involves a proactive approach to prevent issues, efficient resolution of problems, and strategic planning for future maintenance needs. You will lead a small team of maintenance staff, manage vendor relationships, and implement best practices in facility management. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, and groundskeeping.
- Oversee and manage a team of maintenance technicians, including scheduling, training, performance management, and safety compliance.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address potential issues proactively, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers, including tender processes, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget, controlling expenditures and optimizing resource allocation.
- Respond to and resolve emergency maintenance requests promptly, minimizing disruption to operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment warranties.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures related to facility operations and safety.
- Monitor utility consumption and identify opportunities for energy conservation and cost reduction.
- Ensure all building systems operate efficiently and effectively to support the company's telecommunications infrastructure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Facility Manager or in a similar role with a focus on building maintenance.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression).
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in facility management software and MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and French (Lingala/Swahili a plus).
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Facility Manager – CFM).
- Experience in the telecommunications industry or managing technical sites.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in the DRC.
- Experience with sustainable facility practices and energy management systems.
