Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and vigilant Security Guards to join our professional team in Ascot, Portmore. This crucial role involves ensuring the safety and security of assigned premises through active patrolling, monitoring, and proactive response to potential threats. As a Security Guard, you will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment for staff, visitors, and property, executing established security protocols with precision and professionalism. Your day-to-day duties will include conducting regular patrols of both internal and external areas, observing and reporting suspicious activities, and enforcing access control procedures. You will be the front-line deterrent against unauthorized entry, theft, vandalism, and other security breaches. This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong observational skills, and the ability to act swiftly and appropriately in various situations. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular and thorough patrols of designated buildings and external areas, both on foot and via vehicle (if applicable), to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, secure doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings and access points, and permit entry.
- Respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and address any suspicious activities promptly and according to established protocols.
- Write detailed reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Enforce rules, regulations, and policies of the client property to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Control access to premises, verifying credentials and logging visitors and contractors.
- Provide assistance to employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, including directions and general information.
- Assist in emergency situations, including fire, medical, or security incidents, and coordinate with emergency services as required.
- Operate and maintain security equipment, ensuring functionality and reporting any malfunctions.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to operate security equipment and systems (e.g., CCTV, access control panels).
- Excellent observation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including prolonged standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Basic computer literacy for report writing and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Security Guard Licence (e.g., issued by Private Security Regulation Authority – PSRA in Jamaica).
- Previous experience (1+ year) in a security role, preferably in building or patrol security.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Valid driver's license (if vehicle patrols are required).
- Training certificates in security operations or related fields.
