Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and passionate Leather Worker with a keen eye for detail and a love for creating beautiful, durable products? Rivon Collections is looking for a dedicated and experienced Leather Worker to join our production team in Elimgbu, Obio-Akpor. In this pivotal hands-on craft role, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end production of our premium leather bags and small leather goods, transforming raw materials into exquisite finished products. This position demands precision, creativity, and a thorough understanding of various leatherworking techniques. You will work with a range of leathers, from high-grade cowhide to carefully selected exotic skins, ensuring each cut, stitch, and finish meets our brand’s rigorous standards of quality and artistry. From interpreting design specifications and patterns to meticulously cutting, assembling, hand-stitching or machine-stitching, and finishing, your expertise will shine through in every piece you create. Key Responsibilities
- Interpret design sketches, technical drawings, and patterns to produce leather goods accurately to specifications.
- Select and prepare appropriate leather materials, ensuring optimal quality and minimizing waste.
- Precisely cut leather components using a combination of hand tools, presses, or specialized cutting machinery.
- Prepare leather edges through skiving, burnishing, painting, and folding techniques for flawless assembly.
- Assemble and stitch leather pieces meticulously using both hand-stitching methods (e.g., saddle stitch) and industrial sewing machines.
- Install hardware such as zippers, buckles, clasps, D-rings, and other embellishments with precision.
- Perform finishing operations, including polishing, waxing, conditioning, and thorough quality checks to ensure products meet Rivon Collections' high aesthetic and durability standards.
- Maintain and clean all tools, equipment, and the workspace to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient production environment.
- Collaborate effectively with design and production teams to troubleshoot issues, improve manufacturing processes, and contribute to new product development.
- Monitor inventory of leather materials, hardware, and supplies, reporting needs promptly to ensure uninterrupted production.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in various leather cutting and skiving techniques.
- Expertise in both hand and machine stitching for leather (e.g., saddle stitch, lockstitch).
- Strong understanding of different leather types, their properties, and appropriate applications.
- Skilled in advanced edge finishing techniques including burnishing and edge painting.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret complex patterns and technical drawings.
- Competence in using a wide range of specialized leatherworking tools and machinery.
