We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bricklayer specializing in structural building to join our dynamic team in Horfield Common, Bristol. Key Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, blocks, and other building materials to construct and repair structural elements such as foundations, walls, partitions, arches, and chimneys.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and methods to be used.
  • Measure and cut bricks or blocks to exact size, using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Mix mortar and other cementing materials to the correct consistency, ensuring proper bonding and curing.
  • Ensure all work adheres to building codes, structural engineering requirements, and health and safety regulations.
  • Inspect and clean finished brickwork, making any necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Collaborate effectively with other construction professionals, including carpenters, plasterers, and site managers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, properly storing tools and materials.
  • Adhere to project timelines and complete tasks efficiently without compromising quality.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bricklayer, with a focus on structural building.
  • Proficiency in various bricklaying techniques (e.g., English bond, Flemish bond, stretcher bond).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and relevant building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • A keen eye for detail and precision in all aspects of work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Bricklaying or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
  • Full UK driving license.
