Job Description
Are you a skilled and dedicated Carpenter with a passion for precision woodworking? Modern Construction & Services (MCS) is seeking an experienced Carpenter to join our dynamic team in Ilebo, Kasai Province. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented individual to apply their expertise in a variety of construction projects, contributing directly to the creation of durable and aesthetically pleasing structures that serve our communities. As a Carpenter – Woodwork, you will be instrumental in all phases of carpentry, from initial measurements and material preparation to the installation of various wooden components. Your work will involve cutting, shaping, and installing building materials, primarily wood, for the construction of frameworks, roofs, floors, doors, window frames, and cabinetry. You will be expected to interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and project specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, such as framework, floorings, doorframes, stairways, and window frames.
- Install structures and fixtures such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, and hardware.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards and procedures at all times on the construction site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
- Collaborate with other construction workers and tradespeople to complete projects efficiently.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Carpenter with a strong focus on woodworking.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools common to the carpentry trade.
- Excellent knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings (e.g., blueprints).
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate measurements.
- Good understanding of safety guidelines and commitment to safe working practices.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or relevant vocational training.
