Job Description
Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FMN), a cornerstone of Nigeria’s industrial landscape for over six decades, is actively seeking a skilled and dedicated Textile Worker to join our dynamic manufacturing team located in Okrika, Port Harcourt. This is a vital, hands-on role where you will be directly involved in the intricate processes of fabric production, processing, and finishing. Your contributions will support various facets of our extensive operations, from crafting specialized industrial textiles crucial for our machinery and packaging needs to producing and maintaining high-quality uniforms and protective wear essential for our workforce’s safety and hygiene across our diverse facilities.
As a Textile Worker, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring a range of textile machinery, including looms, cutting machines, sewing machines, and finishing equipment. A keen eye for detail will be paramount as you perform quality control checks on raw materials and finished products, ensuring they meet FMN’s stringent standards. This role demands a strong understanding of safety protocols within a factory setting and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor various textile machinery, including industrial sewing machines, cutting equipment, and fabric finishing apparatus.
- Perform routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process fabrics, and finished textile products to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Handle and prepare fabric materials, including measuring, cutting, and sorting according to production requirements.
- Identify and report any machine malfunctions, material defects, or production issues to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, strictly following all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist with basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and adjustments as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily production targets and optimize workflow.
- Package and prepare finished textile goods for dispatch or further processing.
