Job Description
G4S is seeking a highly vigilant and professional Airport Security Officer specializing in Access Control & Screening to join our dedicated team supporting a key client site in Filton, Bristol. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the highest standards of safety and security within a dynamic and sensitive aviation-related environment. As an Airport Security Officer, you will be on the front line of defence, responsible for ensuring the controlled access of personnel and vehicles, conducting thorough screening procedures, and upholding robust security protocols to prevent unauthorized entry or activities. This role is critical in safeguarding valuable assets, sensitive information, and the well-being of all individuals on site, contributing directly to the client’s operational continuity and compliance with stringent industry standards.
Your daily duties will involve operating advanced security equipment, performing meticulous checks on individuals and their belongings, and diligently monitoring access points. You will be a crucial point of contact, providing clear instructions and assistance to visitors and staff while strictly adhering to all regulatory guidelines and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Control and monitor access points for personnel, vehicles, and equipment, verifying credentials and ensuring authorized entry only.
- Conduct thorough security screening of individuals and their belongings using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and manual searches in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform regular patrols of the site, identifying and reporting any suspicious activities, unauthorized persons, or security breaches.
- Operate and monitor CCTV systems, alarm panels, and other security technologies to detect and respond to incidents promptly.
- Respond effectively and professionally to security incidents, emergencies, and alarms, following escalation procedures and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of security activities, incidents, and daily occurrences through comprehensive reporting.
- Provide a visible and reassuring security presence, offering assistance and directions to visitors and staff while maintaining strict security protocols.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors.
- Conduct vehicle searches and inspections as required.
- Participate in security briefings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and site-specific requirements.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor and/or Security Guarding Licence.
- Excellent observational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and during emergencies.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional demeanour.
- Basic IT literacy for report writing and system monitoring.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness to undertake patrols, stand for long periods, and respond to incidents.
- A keen sense of responsibility and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in airport security, aviation security, or a high-security environment.
- Knowledge of aviation security regulations (e.g., DfT requirements).
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- CCTV Operator Licence.
- Experience operating X-ray screening equipment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
