We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Factory Foreman to take on a pivotal role as Production Head and Worker Supervisor at our cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Eleme, Port Harcourt. As Factory Foreman, you will be directly responsible for the hands-on supervision and mentorship of a diverse team of production workers, technicians, and operators. Your expertise will be crucial in planning daily production schedules, allocating resources effectively, and troubleshooting operational challenges to minimize downtime and maximize output. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the daily activities of production personnel, including operators, technicians, and general workers, ensuring adherence to production schedules and targets.
  • Plan and organize production workflow, allocate resources efficiently, and manage shift schedules to optimize output and minimize bottlenecks.
  • Monitor production processes closely to ensure strict compliance with quality control standards, product specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and enforce all company safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety briefings and ensuring a hazard-free working environment.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, identify root causes of production deviations, and implement corrective and preventive actions promptly.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to schedule routine and emergency equipment repairs, ensuring minimal impact on production.
  • Train new and existing employees on standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and proper equipment operation to enhance skill sets and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate production records, generate daily/weekly/monthly reports on output, efficiency, waste, and downtime, and present findings to management.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement among the production team.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize resource utilization.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role within a manufacturing or industrial environment (preferably chemical or fertilizer production).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control systems.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, train, and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting operational issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and production data.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite) for reporting and data entry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Project Management.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations specific to the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification.
