Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Poultry Manager to oversee the daily operations of our poultry farm located in Eagle Island, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves comprehensive management of our livestock, ensuring optimal health, nutrition, and welfare of all birds. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of poultry farming techniques, disease prevention, biosecurity protocols, and feed management. You will be responsible for supervising a team of farmhands, optimizing production cycles, and implementing best practices to achieve efficiency and profitability. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the overall operations of the poultry farm, including brooder, grower, and layer houses.
- Develop and implement comprehensive feeding programs to ensure optimal nutrition and growth for all livestock.
- Monitor flock health daily, identify signs of disease or distress, and implement appropriate preventive and curative measures in consultation with veterinary experts.
- Ensure strict adherence to biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks and maintain a healthy farm environment.
- Supervise, train, and manage a team of farm workers, assigning tasks and overseeing their performance.
- Maintain accurate records of feed consumption, mortality rates, egg production, growth rates, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm equipment, housing, and infrastructure.
- Manage inventory of feed, medications, vaccines, and other farm supplies, ensuring timely procurement.
- Implement and enforce all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, new technologies, and regulations in poultry farming.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in poultry farm management, preferably with a focus on broiler and layer production.
- In-depth knowledge of poultry nutrition, health, disease management, and biosecurity.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and data analysis.
- Familiarity with modern farming equipment and technology.
- High level of integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to animal welfare.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Certification in poultry management or livestock production.

- Knowledge of local agricultural regulations and market dynamics.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and local dialects (e.g., Igbo, Ikwere, Kalabari).
