As a Claims Adjuster – Review & Approvals, you will be responsible for the thorough assessment, investigation, and ultimate approval or denial of insurance claims across various lines of business, including property, motor, and liability. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of submitted insurance claims, verifying accuracy, completeness, and adherence to policy terms.
  • Evaluate claim liability and quantum, utilizing established guidelines, industry best practices, and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Authorize claim settlements within defined authority limits, ensuring fair and timely resolution for policyholders.
  • Identify and investigate suspicious or complex claims, collaborating with fraud investigation units and external experts as required.
  • Communicate claim decisions, explanations of benefits, and next steps clearly and empathetically to policyholders and relevant third parties.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed claims records, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal audit requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with underwriters, claims handlers, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the claims department, identifying opportunities for process enhancements.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Claims Adjuster or in a similar claims handling role within the insurance industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex policy wordings and legal documents.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of claims review and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent decisions under pressure.
  • Proficiency in insurance claims management software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • A strong understanding of general insurance principles and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience with specific lines of business relevant to NFU Mutual (e.g., agricultural, rural property).
  • Prior experience in a claims review, audit, or approval capacity.
  • A degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
