Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically minded Investment Analyst to join our dynamic Portfolio Evaluation team based in our Liverpool office, serving clients across the Wallasey and broader Merseyside region. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive analysis of investment portfolios, evaluating performance, assessing risk, and contributing to the optimisation of client strategies. The successful candidate will play a critical part in generating insights that inform investment decisions and ensure our portfolios consistently align with client objectives and market opportunities. You will be responsible for conducting in-depth performance attribution, risk factor analysis, and scenario modelling across various asset classes. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong quantitative background, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. You will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Researchers, and other Investment Analysts, providing essential analytical support and contributing to the continuous improvement of our evaluation methodologies. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed performance attribution analysis to identify key drivers of portfolio returns.
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments, including VAR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc portfolio performance reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes impacting portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to provide insights and support investment decision-making.
  • Develop and refine analytical tools and models to enhance portfolio evaluation processes.
  • Assist in the due diligence of new investment opportunities and strategies.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of investment data used in analysis.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior analysts and investment committees.
  • Contribute to thought leadership on investment performance and risk management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in investment analysis, preferably within portfolio evaluation or risk management.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, and portfolio theory.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VBA an advantage) and financial modelling.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with financial data platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA candidacy or CFA Charterholder designation.
  • Master's degree in Finance or a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience with portfolio management software (e.g., FactSet, Aladdin, BlackRock eFront).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.
  • Knowledge of GIPS (Global Investment Performance Standards).
