Job Description

Are you a meticulous and organised Bookkeeper with a passion for precision and a solid understanding of financial processes? Haleys Business Advisers is seeking a dedicated and experienced Bookkeeper to join our growing team in Kirkby, Liverpool. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and process client payroll accurately and efficiently, including calculating wages, deductions, and submitting PAYE information.
  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment of invoices and collection of outstanding debts.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts regularly.
  • Process and record all financial transactions, including sales invoices, purchase invoices, expenses, and receipts.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client ledgers, general ledger, and financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts and year-end financial statements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding their bookkeeping needs and queries.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of bookkeeping processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role (2-3 years minimum).
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll processing and PAYE regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and priorities effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAT qualification or equivalent bookkeeping certification.
  • Experience working within an accounting practice or multi-client environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting solutions.
  • Knowledge of HMRC regulations for VAT and payroll.
