Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Supervisor with a strong focus on Vehicle Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Mbuji-Mayi. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of our diverse fleet, which includes heavy mining equipment, light utility vehicles, and logistics trucks. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of vehicle mechanics and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in various types of vehicles and machinery, ensuring timely and effective repairs.
  • Manage the ordering, inventory, and distribution of spare parts, tools, and consumables to support maintenance operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies within the workshop and during field operations.
  • Track and analyze fleet performance metrics, maintenance costs, and downtime to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections of fleet vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior mechanics, promoting their professional development and skill enhancement.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and service history.
  • Coordinate with operational departments to schedule vehicle availability for maintenance, minimizing disruption to production schedules.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in fleet management and vehicle maintenance, particularly with heavy machinery and diesel engines.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with appropriate categories for relevant vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Professional certifications in heavy equipment maintenance, diesel mechanics, or vehicle diagnostics.
  • Experience working within the mining, construction, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Familiarity with local language (Lingala or Tshiluba) for effective communication with local teams.
  • Experience with enterprise asset management (EAM) systems.
