Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and experienced On-site Facility Supervisor – Operations to assume a critical leadership role within our Westville, New Haven facility. This pivotal position demands a hands-on leader responsible for the comprehensive day-to-day operational oversight of our physical plant, ensuring a consistently safe, impeccably efficient, and exceptionally well-maintained environment for all residents, patients, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading, mentoring, and empowering a dedicated team of facility maintenance personnel, meticulously coordinating all preventive and corrective maintenance activities, adeptly managing relationships with external vendors, and rigorously ensuring absolute compliance with all pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule a team of facility maintenance technicians, ensuring optimal performance, adherence to safety protocols, and fostering professional growth.
- Oversee the comprehensive daily operational functions of the facility, including critical systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural integrity, and grounds maintenance.
- Develop, implement, and meticulously manage preventive maintenance schedules to maximize asset lifespan, reduce breakdowns, and minimize operational downtime.
- Lead and manage emergency maintenance situations with swift action and effective resolution, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to safety standards.
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with external contractors and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring the highest quality of service and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, building codes, NFPA, and specific healthcare-related guidelines.
- Monitor and strategically manage departmental operational budgets, proactively identifying cost-saving opportunities without ever compromising quality, safety, or service delivery.
- Conduct thorough and regular facility inspections to proactively identify maintenance needs, potential safety hazards, and areas for operational improvement.
- Maintain precise and comprehensive records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and equipment inventory using a CMMS.
- Collaborate effectively with other departmental heads to seamlessly support overall facility operations, capital projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Implement, enforce, and regularly review safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure and healthy working environment for all staff, residents, and visitors.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or operations, with at least 2 years in a dedicated supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated strong technical understanding of complex building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire suppression, and life safety systems.
- Proven exceptional leadership, team management, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills with the capacity to make sound, timely decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertinent to facility operations in a healthcare or residential setting.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, as well as strong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Valid state driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or LEED Green Associate.
- Prior experience working specifically within a healthcare, senior living, or other regulated institutional environment.
- Knowledge of energy management systems, sustainable facility practices, and building automation systems.
