GIG Logistics is seeking dedicated Truck Drivers for Logistics Transport on Long Routes to join our dynamic team in Opebi, Ikeja. This pivotal role involves transporting critical goods across significant distances, ensuring that our clients’ valuable cargo reaches its destination efficiently and securely. Your day will involve comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections to guarantee vehicle roadworthiness, accurate loading and unloading supervision, and strategic route planning to optimize delivery times while prioritizing safety. You will navigate various terrains and conditions, often operating independently for extended periods. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty trucks over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Secure cargo properly for transport to prevent damage or shifting.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, rest periods, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
  • Manage and verify transport documentation, including waybills, manifests, and delivery receipts.
  • Handle minor roadside repairs or emergencies as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to safety regulations and company procedures for loading, unloading, and driving.
  • Represent GIG Logistics professionally at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class G or equivalent heavy-duty driver’s license with appropriate endorsements for commercial vehicles.
  • Minimum of 4 years (48 months) verifiable experience as a long-haul truck driver.
  • Clean driving record with no major accidents or traffic violations.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian traffic laws and transportation regulations.
  • Ability to perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
  • Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with long-distance routes across Nigeria.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and perform physically demanding tasks associated with truck driving.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification in Defensive Driving or Advanced Driver Training.
  • Experience with various types of freight and cargo securement techniques.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and perform minor vehicle repairs.
  • Familiarity with GPS devices and logistics software applications.
