Job Description
Are you a meticulous and experienced Customs Broker with a passion for facilitating seamless international trade? AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a leader in integrated logistics solutions across Africa, is seeking a dedicated Customs Broker – Import/Export to join our dynamic team in Lisala, Mongala Province. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders, navigating the complexities of customs regulations for both import and export operations. You will serve as a critical link between our clients, shipping lines, and customs authorities, ensuring all documentation is accurate, tariffs are correctly applied, and clearances are processed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate customs declarations and other required documentation for import and export shipments.
- Classify goods according to harmonized tariff schedules and apply correct duty and tax rates.
- Ensure full compliance with all local and international customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
- Liaise effectively with customs authorities, clients, shipping lines, and other stakeholders to resolve queries and facilitate timely clearances.
- Advise clients on customs procedures, import/export requirements, duty minimization strategies, and trade compliance.
- Monitor the status of shipments, track clearances, and proactively communicate updates to clients.
- Maintain meticulous records of all transactions, declarations, and communications.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, compliance risks, or operational challenges.
- Stay updated on changes in customs legislation, tariffs, and trade policies affecting DRC and the region.
- Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations to customs officials.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience as a Customs Broker or in a similar customs clearance role.
- In-depth knowledge of DRC customs laws, regulations, and import/export procedures.
- Proficiency in customs classification (Harmonized System – HS Codes) and valuation methodologies.
- Strong understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and French (both written and spoken).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- Professional certification in customs brokerage or freight forwarding.
- Experience with customs software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Knowledge of other regional African customs regulations.
