Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, install, and test mechanical components, equipment, and systems for industrial processes.
  • Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and breakdown maintenance on heavy machinery and plant equipment.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and optimize maintenance procedures, schedules, and strategies to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Manage and supervise mechanical projects, from conceptualization to commissioning, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and budget.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with production, electrical, and instrumentation teams to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.
  • Ensure complete compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and industry standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems and projects.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, process efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and technical staff on best practices, operational procedures, and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in heavy industry (cement, mining, oil & gas, etc.).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software).
  • Extensive experience with various maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive, corrective).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills with a meticulous approach.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with a track record of successful project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., COREN registration).
  • Prior experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience operating within a continuous process manufacturing environment.
