Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, install, and test mechanical components, equipment, and systems for industrial processes.
- Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and breakdown maintenance on heavy machinery and plant equipment.
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and optimize maintenance procedures, schedules, and strategies to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Manage and supervise mechanical projects, from conceptualization to commissioning, ensuring strict adherence to timelines and budget.
- Collaborate seamlessly with production, electrical, and instrumentation teams to resolve inter-disciplinary issues.
- Ensure complete compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and industry standards.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and documentation for mechanical systems and projects.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, process efficiency, and cost savings.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technical staff on best practices, operational procedures, and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in heavy industry (cement, mining, oil & gas, etc.).
- Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
- Proficiency in using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software).
- Extensive experience with various maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive, corrective).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills with a meticulous approach.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities with a track record of successful project execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., COREN registration).
- Prior experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
- Experience operating within a continuous process manufacturing environment.
