As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Power/Systems, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our expansive electricity distribution network. Your expertise will directly impact the stability, efficiency, and safety of our power grid, ensuring seamless operations across our franchise area. This role demands a keen analytical mind, a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, and practical experience with power distribution systems, substations, and grid operations. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, leveraging your technical prowess to solve complex engineering challenges and drive forward our mission of providing reliable and sustainable electricity. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain electrical distribution systems, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cables.
- Conduct engineering analysis, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting on power systems to identify and resolve operational issues.
- Develop and review technical specifications, schematics, and project plans for new installations and system upgrades.
- Monitor and analyze system performance data to optimize efficiency, reliability, and power quality.
- Ensure compliance with national and international electrical safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and operational teams to execute projects effectively.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and operational staff.
- Participate in the planning and execution of system expansion and rehabilitation projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in power system analysis and design software (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NERC), and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Experience with SCADA systems and distribution automation.
- Knowledge of protective relaying principles and applications.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and blueprints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
- Professional Engineering License (COREN certification in Nigeria).
- Experience in utility environments, specifically with electricity distribution companies.
- Project management experience, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration into traditional grids.
