Hôtel Bandundu is seeking a highly creative, passionate, and meticulously detail-oriented Event Decorator specializing in Venue Arrangement to join our dynamic and growing team. This pivotal role is responsible for transforming our versatile event spaces into captivating and functional settings for a wide array of occasions, including elegant weddings, impactful corporate conferences, festive banquets, and intimate social gatherings. Key Responsibilities
- Consult extensively with clients to deeply understand their event vision, themes, specific décor requirements, and budget.
- Develop innovative and compelling décor concepts, including detailed mood boards, professional sketches, and comprehensive proposals.
- Plan, procure, and meticulously execute all aspects of venue decoration, encompassing floral arrangements, sophisticated lighting, elegant drapery, strategic furniture placement, refined table settings, and thematic props.
- Source, negotiate with vendors, and manage inventory of all decorative elements, ensuring superior quality, timely availability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate seamlessly with event managers, culinary teams, and other internal departments to ensure perfect integration of décor with overall event logistics and operational flow.
- Oversee the meticulous setup and efficient breakdown of all decorative elements, ensuring timely execution and strict adherence to safety standards and hotel policies.
- Manage décor budgets effectively, providing transparent communication on costs to clients and internal management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked décor storage area, ensuring all items are properly cared for and accounted for.
- Continuously research and stay updated with current global and local event décor trends, styles, and innovations to offer fresh, unique, and contemporary ideas.
- Provide proactive on-site supervision during events to address any immediate décor-related adjustments or client needs with professionalism.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven, hands-on experience in event decoration, venue styling, or a closely related interior design field.
- A strong, demonstrable portfolio showcasing previous event décor projects of varying scales and styles.
- Profound understanding of design principles, harmonious color palettes, and effective spatial arrangement.
- Proficiency in creating compelling visual presentations, including mood boards, digital mock-ups, and concept sketches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills for effective interaction with diverse clients and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to perform exceptionally under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently meet stringent deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a keen eye for aesthetic quality, and an unwavering commitment to high-quality execution.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, and move various decorative items and equipment (up to 25 kg) as required for event setup and breakdown.
- Fluency in French and Lingala is highly preferred given the local context; proficiency in English is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a closely related creative field.
- Extensive experience with a wide variety of event types, including high-profile weddings, corporate galas, and large social functions.
- Established knowledge of local suppliers, artisans, and vendors for event décor materials within Bandundu and Kwilu Province.
- Familiarity with industry-standard event management software or advanced design tools.
