We are seeking a diligent, dedicated, and thorough Cleaning Assistant to join our full-time residential cleaning team in Surulere, Lagos. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning tasks in residential buildings, including dusting, vacuuming carpets, mopping hard floors, sweeping, and polishing various surfaces such as furniture, fixtures, and windows (interior).
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, which includes scrubbing toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, and ensuring floors and tiles are spotless.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchens, including wiping down countertops, sinks, cleaning appliance exteriors (refrigerators, ovens, microwaves), and maintaining floor hygiene.
  • Empty trash receptacles in all designated areas and transport waste to appropriate disposal locations following company guidelines.
  • Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and other consumables as needed in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Spot clean walls, doors, baseboards, and other high-touch surfaces to remove smudges, marks, and dirt.
  • Maintain all cleaning equipment in good working condition, reporting any malfunctions, damage, or need for repair or replacement to the supervisor promptly.
  • Strictly follow all safety guidelines and company procedures for handling cleaning chemicals, equipment operation, and waste disposal to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to daily and weekly cleaning schedules, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and within specified timeframes.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients (where appropriate) regarding tasks, progress, and any issues encountered during cleaning.
  • Ensure all cleaning duties are performed to the highest standards of quality, consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 6 months) in residential or commercial cleaning.
  • Solid knowledge of various cleaning techniques, products, and tools for different surfaces.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate standard cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, polishing cloths).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness in all tasks.
  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 20kg), and standing/walking for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations pertinent to cleaning practices.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently within deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Formal training or certification in professional cleaning practices or hospitality services.
  • Experience with eco-friendly or green cleaning products and methods.
  • Resident of Surulere or nearby environs for easy and punctual commute.
  • Ability to understand and speak basic English for effective communication.
