Job Description

We are seeking a talented and driven Civil Engineer with a specialisation in Infrastructure & Road Construction to join our dynamic team in Liverpool. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to significant projects that will shape the urban and regional landscape. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the detailed design of civil infrastructure projects, with a focus on highways, roads, drainage, earthworks, and associated civil engineering elements.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design reports, and other project documentation in accordance with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct site investigations, surveys, and assessments to inform design decisions and feasibility studies.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, local authorities, contractors, and internal multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., structural, environmental, geotechnical) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all design work complies with relevant UK design standards, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians within the team.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and project programmes, contributing to business development activities.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Participate in client meetings, stakeholder consultations, and public exhibitions, effectively communicating complex technical information.

Required Skills

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in the design and delivery of infrastructure and road construction projects in the UK.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MXROAD, or similar civil design packages.
  • Strong understanding of DMRB (Design Manual for Roads and Bridges) and relevant UK design standards and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation pertinent to civil engineering projects.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites and project locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) or working towards chartership.
  • Experience with drainage design software such as MicroDrainage.
  • Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) principles and applications in infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience in client-facing roles and project management responsibilities.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant engineering field.
