Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for assigned categories, from requisition to payment, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and negotiating contracts, prices, and terms to achieve optimal value.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, conducting due diligence to ensure reliability, quality, and compliance with ethical sourcing standards.
  • Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and technological advancements to proactively identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, and Finance, to understand business needs and ensure timely and effective procurement.
  • Implement and manage inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and improve working capital efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives, driving innovation and sustainability within our supply chain.
  • Resolve supplier issues, discrepancies, and disputes in a timely and professional manner, safeguarding Farnell's interests.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role, preferably within a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of interpreting data and making informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain principles, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards).
  • Experience with e-procurement platforms and digital sourcing tools.
  • Knowledge of electronic components or industrial product sectors.
  • Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs procedures.
