Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator with a passion for efficiency and precision? Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited (CPJ) is seeking a dedicated individual to join our dynamic warehouse team in Lucea, Hanover. As a Forklift Operator – Warehouse & Loading Specialist, you will be instrumental in the smooth and efficient flow of goods within our distribution center, playing a critical role in our supply chain operations. This pivotal position involves the safe and expert operation of various types of forklifts to move, stack, load, and unload materials and products, ensuring accurate inventory management and timely dispatch. You will be responsible for meticulously preparing orders for shipment, receiving incoming inventory, and maintaining a well-organized and safe working environment. Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to load, unload, stack, and move products within the warehouse and loading docks.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests, invoices, or other records, noting any discrepancies or damage.
- Inspect forklifts daily, performing routine maintenance checks (e.g., fluid levels, tire pressure) and reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload delivery trucks and containers, ensuring goods are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate inventory by scanning products, updating locations, and assisting with cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Organize and stack materials in designated areas according to established procedures, optimizing space and accessibility.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations for forklift operation and general warehouse safety.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including cleaning, organizing, and ensuring a tidy and safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and truck drivers to ensure seamless operations.
- Execute special projects and other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
- Proficiency in operating various forklift types (e.g., counterbalanced, reach truck).
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory verification and counting.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (CXC/GCE).
- Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., WMS, ERP).
- Familiarity with scanning equipment and barcoding systems.
- Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
- First aid certification is a plus.
