Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, write, and edit engaging and persuasive copy for a variety of communication channels, including web content, social media posts, print advertisements, brochures, press releases, internal newsletters, and campaign materials.
- Collaborate closely with medical, logistics, and field teams to gather information, understand project specifics, and translate complex humanitarian and medical data into accessible and compelling language.
- Ensure all written content aligns with MSF’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, ethical principles, and communication strategy, maintaining accuracy, clarity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Adapt existing global communication materials for local relevance and impact within the Nord-Kivu context, respecting cultural nuances and sensitivities.
- Contribute to the development of communication strategies and campaign concepts, providing expert input on messaging and textual approaches.
- Review and proofread materials to ensure grammatical correctness, factual accuracy, and overall quality before publication.
- Support the media relations team by drafting statements, Q&As, and media briefs as needed, often under tight deadlines.
- Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced humanitarian environment.
- Provide linguistic support where needed, potentially including translation or transcreation of French/English content to ensure broad understanding.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (at least 4 years) as a Copywriter, ideally in advertising, marketing, or communications roles.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and French (highly preferred for local context).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating successful content creation across various platforms and formats.
- Ability to understand and simplify complex information without losing its essence or accuracy.
- Excellent research and interviewing skills to gather necessary information from diverse sources within a humanitarian context.
- High level of empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deep understanding of humanitarian principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with communication tools.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines in a demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field.

- Familiarity with digital content management systems, social media platforms, and SEO best practices.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in Nord-Kivu (e.g., Swahili, Lingala) is a significant asset.
