Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team in Mgbuoshimini, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role is critical to optimizing our supply chain and ensuring the timely, cost-effective acquisition of goods and services essential for our operations. The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust procurement strategies to support business objectives and optimize costs.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to achieve maximum value.
- Manage supplier relationships, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring ongoing performance monitoring.
- Prepare and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify new sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply risks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their material and service requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with supply chain to ensure optimal stock management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in manufacturing or heavy industry.
- Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost reduction and process optimization.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CIPS, CSCP).
