Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Panel Beater to join our dynamic team at Abisdon Auto Services in Katampe, Abuja. As a Panel Beater, you will play a crucial role in restoring the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of vehicles damaged in collisions or other incidents. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that all repairs meet our stringent quality standards and comply with manufacturer specifications. This role requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of vehicle body construction, materials, and repair techniques. You will be responsible for diagnosing damage, performing precision panel repairs, shaping metal, and ensuring a seamless finish before vehicles proceed to the paint shop. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automotive repair, an eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently and independently while also collaborating effectively with other team members. Key Responsibilities
- Assess vehicle damage and prepare detailed repair estimates.
- Perform skilled panel beating to repair or replace damaged body parts, including doors, fenders, bonnets, and chassis components.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools, including welding equipment (MIG, TIG), grinders, and hydraulic pulling equipment.
- Straighten bent vehicle frames and unibodies using specialized frame-straightening machines.
- Remove and install exterior and interior trim, upholstery, and accessories as required for repair.
- Ensure all repairs are completed to the highest standards of quality, precision, and safety.
- Adhere strictly to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians, including painters and mechanics, to ensure a smooth repair process.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all workshop safety regulations.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Continuously update knowledge on new vehicle models, materials, and repair techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Panel Beater or Auto Body Technician.
- Exceptional knowledge of vehicle body repair techniques and methodologies.
- Proficiency in welding (MIG, TIG, spot welding) and metal fabrication.
- Ability to operate hydraulic frame machines and other specialized body repair equipment.
- Strong understanding of automotive structural components and materials.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and repair manuals.
