Job Description
We are seeking a diligent, proactive, and highly responsible Gatekeeper to join our esteemed security team, providing essential residential security services within a prestigious private estate situated near Pleasure Park, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves being the primary point of contact and defense for the property, safeguarding the residents, visitors, and valuable assets. As a Gatekeeper, you will be on the front line, responsible for meticulously controlling and monitoring all access points to the residential premises, operating and overseeing surveillance systems, conducting routine security checks, and responding swiftly and effectively to any security incidents or emergencies. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage and control both vehicular and pedestrian access to the residential premises.
- Verify the identity of all individuals entering and exiting the property, ensuring only authorized persons or registered visitors gain entry.
- Maintain precise and detailed logs of all visitors, vehicles, deliveries, and significant events or incidents.
- Operate and continuously monitor CCTV cameras and other advanced security surveillance equipment to detect and prevent unauthorized activities or suspicious behavior.
- Conduct regular, thorough patrols around the gate area and immediate surroundings to identify potential security breaches, hazards, or maintenance issues.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergency calls, and security incidents, escalating matters to supervisors or relevant authorities as necessary.
- Strictly enforce community rules and regulations concerning access control, parking, and general security procedures.
- Provide clear, courteous, and professional directions and assistance to residents, visitors, and service providers.
- Proactively report any suspicious activities, environmental hazards, maintenance requirements, or security concerns to the appropriate supervisor without delay.
- Ensure all gate security equipment, including barriers, intercoms, and lighting, is fully functional and report any malfunctions immediately for repair.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional gatehouse environment at all times.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience in a security, gatekeeping, or access control role.
- Demonstrable strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective verbal and written interaction.
- Proficiency in operating CCTV systems and other basic security equipment.
- A track record of accurately keeping detailed records and logs.
- Sound judgment and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
- Physical fitness suitable for standing for extended periods and performing routine patrols.
- A high level of integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and unwavering professionalism.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Security Guard license or certification from a recognized security training institution.
- Previous experience working specifically in a residential estate or gated community setting.
- Familiarity with local security protocols and procedures prevalent in Port Harcourt and Rivers State.
- Competency in using basic computer applications for logging, reporting, and communication.
- Prior experience or background in military or paramilitary services.
