Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Industrial Electrician to join our dynamic plant maintenance team. This crucial role involves ensuring the continuous and safe operation of our state-of-the-art fertilizer and petrochemical production facilities through expert electrical maintenance and troubleshooting. As an Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within a heavy industrial plant environment. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work in a shift-based system, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations. You will be an integral part of a team focused on minimizing downtime, optimizing plant performance, and upholding the highest standards of reliability and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative electrical maintenance on plant machinery and equipment, including motors, control panels, switchgear, generators, and other industrial electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical malfunctions using various testing devices and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Install new electrical systems, wiring, and components in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Execute repairs and replacements of faulty electrical equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential electrical hazards or failures and implement corrective measures.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and industrial best practices, particularly regarding Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections performed.
  • Collaborate effectively with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve operational issues.
  • Participate in the commissioning and de-commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians when required.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns during assigned shifts.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and reliability programs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Industrial Electrician in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment (e.g., petrochemicals, oil & gas, power generation).
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor control circuits, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical faults.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, local regulations).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced industrial setting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Electrical Installation or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification in PLC programming and maintenance (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Previous experience in a fertilizer, chemical, or petrochemical plant.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH IGC) relevant to industrial environments.
