In this vital role, you will be instrumental in ensuring clear, consistent, and accurate communication across various internal and external materials. You will be responsible for translating a wide range of content, including technical documentation, marketing materials, legal documents, internal communications, digital content, and more, while meticulously maintaining the original meaning, tone, and context. Your work will directly support our operational efficiency, enhance customer engagement, and strengthen our market presence in Mozambique. We are looking for an individual with meticulous attention to detail, a strong understanding of localization nuances specific to the Mozambican context, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. This role requires not just linguistic proficiency, but also a deep cultural understanding to ensure that our messages resonate authentically with our diverse audience. Key Responsibilities

  • Translate a variety of documents and content from Portuguese to English and English to Portuguese, ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance, and strict adherence to company terminology and style guides.
  • Perform comprehensive proofreading and editing of translated materials to eliminate grammatical errors, ensure stylistic consistency, and uphold overall quality standards.
  • Conduct thorough and meticulous research to ensure the correct use of terminology and appropriate language, especially for technical or specialized content related to telecommunications.
  • Collaborate proactively with internal teams (Marketing, Legal, Technical, HR) to fully understand project requirements and deliver translations that precisely meet specific objectives and target audiences.
  • Manage multiple translation projects efficiently, prioritizing tasks, and consistently meeting deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of all sensitive information and proprietary documents encountered during translation.
  • Utilize Translation Memory (TM) tools, terminology databases, and glossaries effectively to ensure consistency, maximize efficiency, and reduce turnaround times.
  • Adapt content for cultural appropriateness and local nuances (localization) where necessary, particularly for the Mozambican market and its diverse linguistic landscape.

Required Skills

  • Fluency in Portuguese (native or near-native proficiency) and English (native or near-native proficiency), both written and spoken, with a strong command of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary.
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a professional translator, preferably in a corporate or telecommunications environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate, and culturally appropriate translations.
  • Proficiency in using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) is essential.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines in a remote work setting.
  • Excellent research skills to ensure accurate and appropriate terminology for specialized subjects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field.
  • Certification from a recognized national or international translation association.
  • Proficiency in additional local Mozambican languages (e.g., Sena, Xitsonga, Macua, Ronga) is a significant advantage.
  • Previous experience translating technical, legal, or marketing content specifically within the telecommunications industry.
  • Familiarity with localization best practices and content adaptation strategies for specific target audiences and cultural contexts.
  • Experience with terminology management systems and building custom glossaries.
