Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous On-site Janitor – Building Services professional to join our Environmental Services team at Parker Adventist Hospital. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance throughout our hospital facility. Your work directly contributes to a safe, comfortable, and healing environment for our patients, visitors, and staff, aligning with our commitment to whole-person care. You will be responsible for a wide range of tasks from general cleaning and waste management to specialized disinfection procedures in patient rooms, operating rooms, offices, and common areas. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing surfaces in all assigned areas of the hospital.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, offices, waiting areas, and other public spaces according to established hospital protocols and infection control standards.
- Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and hazardous waste to designated disposal areas, and ensure proper segregation of waste materials.
- Replenish supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizer in restrooms and other service areas.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners, ensuring proper care and storage.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when stock is low.
- Respond promptly to emergency cleaning needs, spills, and other urgent requests.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety regulations, and OSHA guidelines, especially those related to chemical handling and bloodborne pathogens.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe application.
- Commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with patients, visitors, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in environmental services or janitorial roles, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with operating various types of cleaning equipment.
