Job Description
As a Production Supervisor at Lafarge Africa Plc’s Rumuigbo facility, you will be instrumental in overseeing the efficient, safe, and high-quality operations of our production lines. This leadership role demands a proactive and results-oriented individual capable of inspiring a team, optimizing operational workflows, and consistently meeting ambitious production targets. You will be responsible for the daily management of production processes, direct supervision of personnel, and the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and uphold Lafarge Africa’s renowned standards of excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output targets and quality standards.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations within the production area.
- Manage, train, and mentor a team of production operators, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Conduct regular quality checks and ensure products comply with company specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance, logistics, and quality control departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, analyzing performance metrics and suggesting improvements.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, discipline, and performance management.
- Drive lean manufacturing principles and participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Operate and troubleshoot production equipment as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (preferably cement, aggregates, or mining).
- Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, and maintenance principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and implement data-driven improvements.
- Proficiency in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
- Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP or similar ERP system).
- B.Eng/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree or professional certification in operations management or a related field.
- Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Specific experience in cement manufacturing processes.
