Job Description

As a Production Supervisor at Lafarge Africa Plc’s Rumuigbo facility, you will be instrumental in overseeing the efficient, safe, and high-quality operations of our production lines. This leadership role demands a proactive and results-oriented individual capable of inspiring a team, optimizing operational workflows, and consistently meeting ambitious production targets. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to meet output targets and quality standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations within the production area.
  • Manage, train, and mentor a team of production operators, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor production processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and ensure products comply with company specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, logistics, and quality control departments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, analyzing performance metrics and suggesting improvements.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures, including those related to attendance, discipline, and performance management.
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles and participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Operate and troubleshoot production equipment as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment (preferably cement, aggregates, or mining).
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, and maintenance principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze production data and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Proficiency in health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management systems.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, SAP or similar ERP system).
  • B.Eng/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree or professional certification in operations management or a related field.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Specific experience in cement manufacturing processes.
