Job Description
We are seeking a highly meticulous and experienced Remote Payroll Processor to join our dynamic finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional to manage complex payroll operations from the comfort of their home, while being an integral part of Danone North America’s mission-driven culture. As a Remote Payroll Processor, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a diverse workforce across multiple states. You will play a crucial role in maintaining payroll compliance, responding to employee inquiries, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our payroll systems and processes. This position requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of payroll regulations, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Process multi-state, bi-weekly payroll for a large employee base, including wages, bonuses, commissions, and all deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting.
- Manage and process all payroll-related transactions, including new hires, terminations, status changes, and benefits deductions.
- Reconcile payroll data and prepare accurate payroll reports for general ledger posting and management review.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with HR and benefits teams to ensure accurate data flow and integration impacting payroll.
- Administer year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution.
- Participate in payroll system upgrades, testing, and implementation projects as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll information.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of progressive experience in multi-state payroll processing.
- Proficiency with major payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Workday, UKG Pro).
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
- Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems.
- Previous experience working in a large, complex organization.
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience with payroll system implementations or conversions.
