Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient examinations, diagnose illnesses, and develop comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Provide high-quality medical care to patients across various departments, under supervision as appropriate, adapting to diverse clinical scenarios.
  • Participate actively in all provided training programs, workshops, continuous medical education sessions, and grand rounds.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and detailed patient medical records, ensuring compliance with hospital standards and national regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively and respectfully with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, allied health professionals, specialists, and support staff.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, preventative care strategies, and prescribed treatment protocols.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, contributing to crisis management and resuscitation efforts.
  • Adhere strictly to medical ethics, professional guidelines, and all relevant hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Required Skills

  • Medical Degree (MD, MBChB, or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Eligibility for registration or provisional registration with the Mozambican Medical Association (Ordem dos Médicos de Moçambique)
  • Strong clinical acumen and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities in Portuguese (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach to care
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or residency experience in a public health setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Fluency in additional local languages of Mozambique.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated interest in public health, tropical medicine, or specific medical specialties.
