Lafarge Africa Plc is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our dynamic team at our facilities located in Ada George, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves ensuring the optimal functionality and reliability of all electrical systems and equipment within our plant. You will be responsible for executing planned preventive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electrical faults, and performing corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute planned preventive and corrective maintenance activities on all electrical systems and equipment, including motors, control panels, MCCs, VFDs, transformers, and switchgears.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical faults in industrial machinery and control systems using schematic diagrams, test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
- Install, test, calibrate, and repair electrical components and systems in accordance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance checks on electrical equipment to identify potential issues and ensure reliable operation.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports for all electrical work performed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, working at heights).
- Collaborate effectively with mechanical technicians, production teams, and engineers to optimize equipment performance and resolve inter-departmental issues.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment failures and contribute to the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the training and development of junior technicians and apprentices.
- Ensure efficient utilization of spare parts and consumables, reporting any deficiencies and contributing to inventory management.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industrial electrical systems, including AC/DC motors, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical faults in a heavy industrial setting.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures (e.g., NFPA 70E, IEEE, Nigerian Electrical Safety Regulations).
- Familiarity with various types of sensors, actuators, and instrumentation.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and megohmmeters.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade Test Certificate I, II, or III in Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Certification in industrial automation or PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Previous experience in the cement, mining, or heavy manufacturing industry.
