Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and statutory reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses in accordance with IFRS and Polish accounting standards.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, performing detailed reconciliations and analysis.
  • Manage tax compliance, including VAT, corporate income tax, and other relevant local taxes, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Provide financial insights and support to senior management for strategic decision-making.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Actively participate in the implementation and optimization of financial systems and processes.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or Chief Accountant, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Polish accounting principles (UoR) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics).
  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential for daily operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Certification such as ACCA, CIMA, or Polish Certified Auditor (Biegły Rewident).
  • Experience in a shared service center or large international corporation.
  • Familiarity with Portuguese accounting terminology or experience in a Portuguese-speaking business context is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Experience with process automation and digital transformation initiatives in finance.
